Spring Equinox. Aries Season. New Moon at 0 degrees of Aries. March 20th, 2023

The beginning of this astrological year is the beginning of an era indeed. The Sun crosses over 0 degrees of Aries on March 20th, marking the time in the wheel of the year when we are once again given an opportunity to start moving upward in alignment with the cosmic cycle. This Aries season is accompanied by the astrological events that make it one of the most pivotal months of the year. We have two New Moons in Aries this season, both in critical degrees, and the second one is a Solar Eclipse. First New Moon takes place just a day after the beginning of the season at 0 degrees of Aries, and the second one is just hours before the end of the Aries season at 29 degrees. The pronounced energy of starting major new cycles is also highlighted by the ingression of Pluto in Aquarius on March 23rd. What we begin now, no matter how small, is to become a seed of great transformation. All the planets are direct, this is the new beginning supported by the cosmos. But let’s try to bring it back to the earth and see what it means for us.

The chart of the ingression of the Sun in Aries speaks of the month when we commit to some major decisions in regards to the offers we are going to make or accept, about the connections that are going to be severed or brought together, about the leaps that we need to make to recognize our own authority and learn to honor the authority of others. This is the season when we receive a masterclass on individuality and collaboration. Individuality and collaboration are the main ingredients of the perfect storm that the Universe is brewing. To hold space for the myriad of the expressions that are not you, first requires radical space holding for the expression that is you. This season we start to redefine the meaning behind some of the long standing ideas about our purpose, our relationship to the systems in place, we are going to start reclaiming all that has been deemed radical, unorthodox, not-marketable, not-sellable, too out there or too in here. With the ruler of the season, Mars in the last degrees of Gemini during the Spring Equinox, the language around what is important is starting to shift, as we change the semantics we change the perception of reality.

This first New Moon in Aries, on March 21st is going to sextile Pluto in the last degree of Capricorn and conjunct Mercury in Aries. This is an opportunity to consciously consider your personal authority that has slowly emerged in the last 14 years ( where does Capricorn sit in your chart?), this is an opening to act from the inner awareness and take full responsibility for the choices you are going to make from now on. This lunation is revealing to us all the layers of societal, parental, patriarchal conditioning we have been shaking off through Pluto in Capricorn transit. It asks us to recognize the agency we have of changing the narrative around the concept of power, attaching a whole new world of meaning to this word. The meaning that  does not tolerate the consistent crossing of our personal boundaries by the systems in place, by the ideology in the making, by the incessant capitalistic narrative of competition and extraction and by people who really should have no authority over you. On March 25th Mars, the ruler of the Aries season moves into Cancer, after a very long stay in Gemini. The change of the tone in itself is so refreshing, though Mars is not particularly content in Cancer. Priorities in regards to our energetic output change a lot now, the fight becomes emotionally fueled. With Pluto in Aquarius, Sun in Aries and Mars in Cancer ( for most of Aries Season), the themes of freedom to pursue, to be and to express ourselves is connected to the sense of safety we have within and without, with the primordial need for protection and deep connection to our ancestors. Happy Aries Season and Happy New Moon. With Love, Mariana.
