Jupiter in Taurus. 05/16/2023 - 05/25/2024
It feels like Jupiter sprinted through the sign of Aries in a bleep, and is quickly approaching the lands of Venus ruled Taurus. Jupiter, the great benefic and the expander of truth, whatever the truth is, comes into the sign of Taurus on May 16th for the first time since 2011-2012. Interesting to note that 2011 the year of the last ingress of Jupiter in Taurus was declared an International Year of Forestry by the United Nations and that is also a year Occupy Wall Street protests started. Do you remember what events took place in your life back then?
Let’s talk about Jupiter first. Jupiter is the planet of expansion, progress and seeking, but when we think about expansion and progress, we immediately think positive, but I have seen Jupiter often connected to the kind of expansion we might not be too excited about. What is found in the moment of ingression is often inflated, like for example with Jupiter in Aries, we as a society already deep in the trenches of the military industrial complex, found ourselves taking it even further through the unfolding of a global military situation, and being pulled into the vortex of another conflict. Like with any planet the quality of the impact in many ways connected to the conditions we have accumulated by the time of the transit. Same applies to our personal lives. On the positive note, if we can take a conscious approach and are willing to change the direction of our lives in the area where Jupiter transits through, we can be greatly supported in our endeavors. Jupiter favors the truth and Universal Law, and sometimes in order to change direction the truth has to be exposed, so we cannot turn away from what is so obvious. How does that saying go, the Truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off, so yeah once you see clearly, you can choose accordingly.
Now on to talk about the Taurus archetype. Taurus is the fixed earth sign that is responsible for the creation of the harmonious relation to the natural world (the source of all abundance), it is related to resources that provide us safety, foundations that we build to feel a sense of order and security. Taurean energy is all about preservation of both energetic and material resources; we know we are out of balance when preservation turns into hoarding or even greed. Taurus is associated with food, land, natural resources that are above the ground, financial institutions, banks, savings, pleasure, our five senses, values, stability, indulgence and comfort. Taurus being the first fixed energy has a great responsibility of intentional and sustainable building, for a lot of our future development and growth depends on the quality of our foundation. Ruled by Venus, the objective is to enjoy the goods of life, to embrace the earthly existence as a source of pleasure.
Now let’s see what can transpire while we have Jupiter in Taurus. Last time Jupiter was in Taurus was from June of 2011 to June of 2012. First locate the house Jupiter is going to transit through, then try to remember what themes came up during the last time Jupiter was in Taurus. This is not to say that the events will be the same, but themes most certainly can have a connection. Last time we had this transit the Occupy Wall Street movement started, the unprecedented amount of floods in countries like Pakistan, Thailand, Philippines and Cambodia. The European Union experienced major financial losses, having to bail out Greece. When a planet that is responsible for expansion and inflation goes into the sign that is all about resources and stability, we are about to experience some serious changes in the way a lot of our financial institutions are functioning and the ways we create stability are changing rapidly, especially considering that we have Uranus and North Node already in Taurus. The connection between the climate crisis and the agricultural world will come to our attention in some major ways, as well as the introduction of the next level of processed foods or food imitation development will come with Jupiter/Uranus conjunction in 2024. Since Jupiter represents law, we might see new laws about food development and farming coming to reshape the ways we think about the food industry and its production. The same goes for the credit systems, banking, land and property laws.
As Jupiter enters Taurus it forms a square to Pluto in Aquarius. This cycle started in April of 2020 on the conjunction between Jupiter and Pluto in Capricorn, so we are going to see the unboxing of the events that originated back then, and as we all know a lot originated back then. With the square to Pluto, Jupiter is going to form applying conjunction to North Node in Taurus and when Mars enters Leo just days later we have a t-square that will require a lot of awareness and groundedness to navigate with as little upheaval as possible. This whole configuration will hold all the way through almost the end of May. If you have planets or important points between 0 to 4 degrees of the fixed cross ( Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) you are undergoing the most profound recalibration of priorities, shifts in the ways you approach the balance of powers dynamics in your life and the balance in your work vs home lives. While Jupiter, the teacher archetype is in Taurus, we have an opportunity to devote ourselves to the teachings of the Taurean domain. The teachings of creating space that feels good, of the intentionality of movement, of stillness that cultivates self trust. All that so we can understand our true value on a bone deep level. This energy invites us into softness, and all the difficult aspects that Jupiter will make through its journey in Taurus is about returning to the softness of experiences in a world that is full of sharp edges. Taurus energy asks us to elevate the mundane tasks into the pleasurable rituals, to savor and to honor the matter, the tangible.
